Blogging Rules and Directions

Blog Rules –
1. In order to receive credit for your comments, you must include your first name and last initial, as well as your class period. (Example: William D. Period 3)
2. Mrs. Miller can reject your comment if it is not written in standard-written English. That means you need to remember to proofread your work (spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc.). You also will not be allowed to use slang or abbreviations.
3. Make sure your comment really explains your thoughts and feelings on the topic. One or two sentences will not be enough! You must have a minimum of six well-written sentences!*Please make sure that your comment is posted! If it isn’t, that means you will have to post a new comment for it to count as one of your four postings.

To type a comment about a question on the blog, follow these directions:
1. Choose a question you want to comment on, and click on the comments section.
2. Write your comments in the space to the right, add your name and period number, and then click on the bubble below it called “Anonymous.”
3. To publish your comment, click on the orange button “Publish Your Comment.”The webpage will be updated weekly with different questions and comments about the novel we are reading in class and other corresponding topics.

These four “blog journals” will count as one process-writing grade.

Below is a sample of what a proper comment might look like:

Question: What would you do if you were stranded on a deserted island all alone?

If I was stranded on an island, the first thing I would do is try to make a shelter. I would need a place to sleep at night, and I wouldn’t want to be out with the animals of the island. After my shelter is built, I would then try to find some food. I would try to go fishing, or even look for some berries or other fruit. Food would be very important if I wanted to survive. Finally, I would want to make a fire to both cook food and make a signal so I could be rescued. I would not want to be on that island forever! – William
