Peer Pressure in The Outsiders

We can infer that the characters in The Outsiders act certain ways so they will be accepted by their peers. A peer is someone who is equal to another in age, background, or social status.

Who are your peers?
Do you ever feel pressure to dress or act like your peers?
Have you ever done anything you did not want to do because of peer pressure?
Do you think children, teenagers, or adults are more affected by peer pressure?

Remember to answer all parts of this blog, and give details to support your answers. Your entry must be at least six sentences long or it will not be published!

Some of my peers are my friends, my family, and everyone around me. I dont feel pressure to dress or act like my friends because my friends dont care how I dress or act around them. Yes, I have done something because of peer pressure. I think that children and teenagers are more affected by peer pressure because because teenagers and children do stupid things in life and adults are more matured.

Also, my friends could still like me is a dressed differant or did my hair differant. My friends are sccepting and it doest bother them. i have done things that i didnt want to do because of peer presure.I beleive that children , teenagers have more peer presure than adults because of idols and singers, ect.., For example, children might be inflenced bt barbie, the might want to be like her. they think that you have to be perfect.BUt in reality you dont.

I HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO DO SOMETHING I DONT LIKE TO DO. IF THEY TELL ME TO TAKE SOMETHING I DONT WANT IM LIKE "HEY HEY HEY MAN I DONT WANT THIS". I DO THINK THAT ADULTS TEACHERS AND CHILDREN ARE AFFECTED NECAUSE THEY ALWAYS WANT TO BE LIKE SOMEONE ELES TO FIT IN.

My peers are my best friends and my teachers. If I don't act a certain way around my friends, like acting funny, then I will look really boring. If I don't work well or don't pay attention in class, then the teachers could lower my grade and think I am stupid. My peers don't need me to dress like them, because it does not matter what we look like. My teachers need me to bring things to each class, which could put on pressure if I forget one, because I could get in trouble.

I never have felt peer pressure to dress like them. once in a while i will try to act like a couple of them but not really all the time.I have done somethings that i didnt want to do but i dont really anymore. I think that teenagers are most affected by peer pressure because adults are mature enough to do the right things and children dont really do bad things to make their friends feel peer pressure.

Yes I think that they are pressured because they feel like they need to do something that they see someone else do. Like here is an example, when someone popular does something you want to do the same thing because they are popular.

Mrs. Miller, all periods

My peers are my friends, my family, and my colleagues that I work with. I used to feel a lot of pressure to dress and act like my peers when I was in high school. My family didn't have a lot of money when I was growing up, so I never had the best clothes. A lot of girls used to pick on me because of this, and I hated it. When I was a sophomore, I finally found a group of kids who accepted me for who I was. I'm still friends with many of these people today.

Now that I'm a grown up, I hate it when I see some of my students getting picked on like I did when I was in school. The good news is when you're a grown up you learn not to care so much about what other people think. What matters is how you feel about yourself, and that you're comfortable with who you are. Also, remember that if you do something wrong because of peer pressure, you may regret it later.

My peer is Lizard King. why I like him is he is a ripper and can skate anything. Every time i see him on tv i always watch what he does so then I could try what he did. He has many tattooes that show what he likes. all of my friends like him but i like the most I think. The best thing about him is the fights he gets into because he destroys the person. He has many shoes out and they are sick. He is on dethwish skateboards and he has a new pro deck out i wont to get it. I think that teens always wont to show off in front of thier freinds that is why I think they have to put up with perr pressure.

I don't really feel pressured when it comes to clothes beacause I have my own style that no one can copy well its hard anyway. I have done something I didn't want to do it's just hard to explain. I don't think children, teenagers, and adults have anymore or less peer pressure than the next person. I have had to deal with peer pressure and its not the easiest thing to do.

My peers are the people in my classes at school. If all my peers dress a certain way, then it makes me dress that way too sometimes. This is because I don't want to be picked on or made fun of if I'm dressing differently. Although I do this, I haven't been pressured into doing something that I am against. I won't do something that is wrong just because my peers do it. I think peer pressure is centered more around teenagers than children or adults. This is probably because teenagers are always trying to be the best and if others don't do what they think is cool than they will pick on them or pressure them into doing it. I think people should not pick on others for being different than themselves.

I do not feel under peer pressure to dress or act like any of my friends. I have never done anything I didn't want to do because of peer pressure or will I ever. A few of my peers are Kyle, Joe, Jarred, and Alex. My other peers are members of my family and any other person that I associate with. I don't ever feel any pressure to dress or act like my peers, because my friends do not really care how I look or how I act. I have very little regrets in my life, and acting the way I do is not one of those regrets. The age group of people that I believe has to deal with peer pressure the most are teenagers. Teens are just starting to try new things that are either good or bad. At that time is also when teens are trying to fit in, and being pressured by people to do something is a way that some teens try to become popular. Mostly, this method will backfire and make your life harder. All peer pressure is avoidable if you chose friends that will steer you in the right direction.

Peer pressure doesn't really effect me or my friends. I don't listen to what my peers say because I am who I am. A lot of people depend on other people to "fit in", or tell them how to act or dress. I've got my own style and my own way to act. I know of people who will pick someone to dress like or act like them. There's really no reason too, cause usually that person gets annoyed by it. My friends really aren't bothered by it either. Some are like me, they don't care what people think, they're just who they are. That's how peer pressure really doesn't effect me and my friends.

I don't fall for peer pressure, except for one time I fell for a stupid dare where I ate a chip of salsa and then after two minutes the salsa was all over the table. I believe that even though peer pressure affects everybody, it often tends to affect teenagers the most. Since teenagers are at that age where they are figuring out who they want to be in life, they find a role model, often a friend, and they do everything that person does.

Our peers are friends, friends of friends, family, classmates or co-workers, and anybody we aqssociate with. Even if someody has little family or friends, they will still have a lot of peers. Some of my peers that I happen to look up to, are my Mom, Jesalyn C., Lexi H., and Sam A.

I sometimes feel pressure to dress or act like my peers, but not often, because I've learned to be myself. People who often feel pressure to act or dress like their peers, have more trouble controling their impulses to act or dress like their peers.

I have done some things that I didn't want to because of peer pressure. I have said things that took me a long time to fix.

I think children and adults are affected the most by peer pressure, because they haven't really learned who they are and who they want to be yet. Children are just developing and teenagers are slowly but surely getting to where they neeed to be.

Then my mom said "You all should get 80s or above in school. If you don't you'll get in trouble". Ever since then, I dreaded getting back test/quiz grades because I know that if I don't get 80 or above, I will get yelled at. In conclusion, that is why my parents are my peers.

I also don’t do anything because or peer pressure or dress different because of peer pressure. I have a few people I look up to and sometimes I change a little for them and maby act different. I also don’t think that adults look up to people like they did when they were kids. I also think kids look up to there peers more. I even think that adults fall under peer pressure more than kids, and kids don’t understand peer pressure. I think the teenagers are most difficult to understand because they fall under peer pressure without relizing it ,but I think they look up to there peers more because this is when they choose there career, life style, dressing, and how they act. This is what I think about peer pressure ,and how people react or act towards or around it.
